Chapter 2 from the Skillful Teacher introduces 4 core assumptions. I wanted to take some time to discuss his first which is "Skillful teaching is whatever helps students learn." Providing a warm and inviting environment for your adult learners is a great start! Don't be afraid to try different methods to deliver your curriculum. Keeping to traditional methods may not be the best or most appropriate for your learners. I have found many different resources out online that have provided wonderful tips. This youtube channel caught my eye...

https://teachinginhighered.com/podcast/skillful-teacher/ is another resource I located that has a podcast from Brookfield himself. You can find several links to additional blogs from his book. I do find that being pliable and flexible as an adult educator is key. Yes, we should do what we can to help our students learn. We should be open to adapting, changing and learning ourselves. Our students are changing as we should change as well.
